As a matter of interest, I trained as an actor many years ago. I have always loved the theatre. For this reason, I love working with actors, producers and directors. I understand the importance of their photographic needs. Over the years, I have shot for Theatre Companies, Dance Companies, and Costumiers from around the UK. Theatre Magic is a well-worn phrase. William Shakespeare linked theatre and illusion in his plays A Midsummer Night’s Dream (with fairies) and The Tempest (with a sorcerer). It applies to what an audiences feel at productions. This is regardless of whether it is a high school production, drama club play or Broadway musical. And it spurs theatre practitioners through the hard work, long hours, and years of study required to be part of such illusion. It also motivates the photographers who capture still images of theatrical shows.
